Shocked at the time

Sitting here I am shocked at how long it has been since I have done anything here. But there is a good reason. Since the last time I was typing the husband and I have been trying to be awarded a veteran's house through a wonderful organization called Homes for Heros. They are giving homes to veterans that come home from Iraq and what not. Now in February of this year (the 3rd) we were told that the house we wanted was not good for us. But there is another house that was better for us and we were given that house instead. On the 24th of February we moved into our house and have been slowly settling in. I cannot wait until the 14th of this month. That is when the wonderful foundation that gave us this wonderful house is going to be flying us back east to be presented our house at a HUGE gala. It is going to be with the NRA where they are going to be presenting to us. I am not sure what is going to be going on there all I know is that they are flying us out and letting us stay in a hotel. This is going to be the first time in 17 years that I have flown. Good thing it is going to be done with the husband as well as with some close friends of our that also were awarded a house through the wonderful foundation.
All the while I have been practicing with some yarns to see what they are looking like when I am dying them. So far I have made one that has a white and blue coloring in which I am going to be seeing what happens if I add some red to it. I have also found that there is a bamboo yarn out there that handles the color really well. For the testing I split the yarn into half and dyed them at the same time. One came out looking very creamsicle and the other was more of a pinkish yet they were dyed at the same time in the same container. I will show pictures later. I am going to see how they come out when I knit them into something. I have also had some left over cotton yarn and dyed them a VERY deep and bright red. Those too were VERY beautiful. That one will be knitted into something nice with pictures posted also.
I am also making some more of my star bottles since the mother-in-law has found me some AWESOME bottles to put them in. I cannot wait to see what they are going to be like once I have filled all of the bottles with the stars. Or as many bottles I can fill with the stars. Once I have them filled I am going to be selling them online on my ETSY store and see how they do there. My ETSY store is located HERE. Check it out and tell me what you think of it.
As usual I am always looking for new patterns to do since I am addicted to knitting but I am also making more sewing items. One of those things that I am making is the recycle bags as well as I am currently working on making an apron and seeing how it comes out. If it comes out nice I am then probably going to be making them and selling them in my ETSY shop. If anyone that reads this has any ideas outside of the box that I should be knitting as well as sewing please let me know I love having ideas tossed at me on what to make.

Newest

As you can see it is officially Christmas night on my end on the west coast. The presents have been unwrapped and the food has been eaten. Everything that was given to the family was hand made minus what was given to the hubby. He has been learning to SCUBA dive and so he was given a Dive t-shirt and a CD. Right now I am sadly not knitting but making origami cranes for a relative on my hubby's side. We recently found out that she is suffering from, if I remember correctly, rectal cancer and it is attacking her really badly. So I am gonna make as much as I can of the cranes as fast as I can. So bare with me and I should be back to blogger like there is no tomorrow for sure in 2012

Update

Man it has been such a long time since I have updated on here. So far there have been many things that have happened since probably the last time.
For one thing we are currently waiting to see if we have won the lottery for the house that we are trying to get. More on that later

New Wednesday

And I can say that Wednesday was an AWESOME Wednesday. Most of the time its the same thing every day. Wake up take care of Joe and recently go to bible study.... But, this Wednesday a wrench was thrown into the mix and it made the day even better. First off I was able to go to Bible Study again with Christian Surfers in Torrance, CA and there had an awesome sermon delivered to us. But after wards I was able to tell a few people about what I do here for LOL Creations and was actually left feeling not burdened like I usually do but uplifted and at peace. Now if only all days could be like I know I can get all of the times that I want to make done and even more that I am too timid to try out :)

Blanket update

Well, last night while the hubby was at his SCUBA class for Veterans I was able to finish the baby blanket while I was sitting in the car. I have a picture its not the greatest but it does show that it is a completed blanket. It was taken with my cell phone and I guess I was a little more than the little tired that I thought I was since the picture is kinda blurry and hard to see. But, I will put it here. And when I can get to my actual digital camera (have to find the charger) I will take a better photo. But, for now here is the picture that I have as of right now:I am so happy that this blanket is so easy to knit once you start and it is a REALLY easy pattern its just a knit and purl pattern that stays its specific part for each square. Once you get to the amount of knit or purls that you want it the square on the next row your switch. It makes the REALLY cute squares pattern in the blanket. Once in a while I am going to maybe weave in some accent colors to some of them and see how it comes out.
As soon as I can I am going to be starting a baby blanket for a baby boy that I am going to be sending to a soldier's family that just had a baby boy right before he was shipped to Iraq. I love the color of the yarn that I found while I was looking for something else. I love how that works. You are looking for say floss for bracelts and you find that plus some REALLY awesome yarn to make into a baby blanket. I was so happy when I saw the amount of yarn that I had too.
And of course all the while I am going to be doing all of my knitting ideas that I have for LOL Creations and get those sent out to the "home base" so they can be sent out to the appropriated places that are show casing and selling the items for me. But, for now I am going to be taking off a start on those matching beanies that go with the blanket as well as the bracelets and of course the baby boy baby blanket that I want to ship out to the family ASAP.

Recent

Recently I have been also working on some bracelets to sell and until now I did not realize that I had so many beads that were recently bought but not enough floss to go around. How am I supposed to function when I do not have the supplies that I need. But then I know I am going to be going to the local knitting store to get what I need from them as soon as I am done making what I need to make.
On another note I am almost done with the blanket and since I am no longer putting it off I am actually get a lot of it done. From there I am going to be making I believe a baby beanie and then a kiddie beanie to match. From there I am also going to be making some really pretty boas out of the feathery material that they have out there. I think I am going to be posts online on the Etsy shop so that if people are looking for a certain color they can have it and know that they will be made into a boa into no time. I love making boas because they can be done in about at most roughly 30 minutes.
Right now as I am blogging about this I am sitting in the local Barnes N Noble Bookstore and having a double Chocolate Chip Frapaccino that I am sharing with my husband and you know what that is ONE BEYOND AMAZING DRINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man oh man to begin its a delicious cold drink that reminds me of the hot chocolate that you would have after a long day snow boarding. Then there is the fact that there are chocolate chips that are blended right into the drink which mean not all the time are they totally crunched. Come on this thing is floating in chocolate goodness. Where can you go wrong with this drink. It even comes where you can get whipped cream on it but we didnt' get it this time.
Wow, I can't believe that 3 weeks has almost passed by so quickly. What I mean is that tomorrow is going to be the third week that my hubby and I have been in our city's CERT class which means we are actually graduating from our class. That means he and I are going to be going through the process so that we can be DSV when we clear the background check comes through. I mean the class has been beyond fun and I am actually sad that this class is going to be over. I learned a lot from this class and actually wish it was a longer class so that there can be more to learn. But, as it says in the handbook you really can't learn everything you have to experience it to be sure you know what to do. The only thing is that when ever you are going to be doing something keep one thing in mind KEEP YOUR SELF FIRST IN MIND. YOUR SAFETY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT

Amazing

Today as I was looking for some items that I needed to grab for the hubby I found one of my MIA knitting bags. In there I found bracelets that I have finished knitting but not put together. As well as my hole puncher for my labels. It was a good day and has help in the beginning of the cleaning. Its amazing what I have been finding for the business as I am cleaning. I have even found some of the patterns that I have been wanting to find. Which means I am going to be adventuring into some more advanced patterns than what I am used to. I am excited and nervous at the same time. And as usual I will add pictures to here as well so that you are kept up to date.
I am so happy that the idea of creating this "company" was given to me to show case the many wonderful things that I make and to connect to people that appreciate the items that I make. In the following paragraphs I feel that I should be introducing you the reader of my blogger to some of the people that "work" including myself. The others, I am going into detailed but I will try and help everyone know who we are.
In LOL Creations we have Joe that is trying to find things that he can me since he has PTSD/TBI as well as a pretty messed up wrist from his intense tour of Iraq for the Army. We are glad to say that he is home and trying to make the adjustment from being Military soldier back to being a civilian. Its a long process but with his family and Close friends standing right next to him he will slowly make that process. Right now he is wood carving some items like surfboards that can be used on key chains. They are of natural wood coloring as of right now but he is trying to decide what colors he is going to be painting some of them.
We also have myself which is a military wife that began knitting items like beanies and blankets to actually to send Joe when he was in Iraq as well as the guys that he was out there with. Now I am making baby blankets, as well as, bracelets, beanies, scarves, boas as well as I am going to be venturing into shawls as well as sweaters and just beautiful clothes.
There is another in this "company" that I can honestly say I owe everything to. Patty is the reason that this all began. She saw how well I was really getting along with one blanket pattern that she had taught me. She also contributes the knitted items that we carry as well as the crocheted items that we hopefully going to be carrying soon as soon as she has free time to be able to get them done since she is working hard at her full time job.
And that is pretty much everyone that is connected really to LOL Creations. If you have any questions or are looking for anything specific please email us any time at: lolcreations@live.com

Progress

Well, the holiday is over and so has passed the 10 year anniversary in the US that changed the outlook for everyone from then on. I can't believe that it has been ten years already that I was at home watching the towers fall and thinking that my hubby (friend) at the time I knew was going to volunteer to go to Iraq. Man, I was right and he went and came home in one piece but not truly whole. But on another note there have been many things going on now.
First off I am almost done with the blanket that I started off making right before this holiday happened. It is taking me MUCH longer than it normally would because of the fact that I have been taking a lot of breaks here and there and just relaxing.
As soon as I can I will begin posting pictures of the bracelets as well as the blankets and the boas and some new designs of scarves that I have found and would love to have opinions on them. Please if you are reading this and you see one of my designs if you like it or hate please let me know. I appreciate all the criticism that I get and take it to the point of how to make it better or keep it how it is.
Sarge is still being a snot rocket but I think it with all the camping and sports activities that we are both doing that is leaving us away from home for long periods of time as well as leaving us so dead that we have cleaned just not dusted that the place is a little to dusty. I think one day I am going to take the day off from all activities and just clean thoroughly my apartment. That way I know if he is still sneezing its something else. Either that or he has just become allergic to me. LOL

Decisions Decisions

I mean yeah I am not working anymore except as a care giver for my husband which is a 24/7 job but I still have to decide what to make knitting wise this weekend. I mean do I start on the all white with some accent colors baby blanket or do I start with one of the bracelets. If I start with one of the bracelets which one do I start on? So many choices and I even have to find the crafting floss to go with every thing. Man, this is going to be one hectic fun weekend.
That and I have class EVERY Saturday this month on a CERT class can't wait yet at the same time I am totally nervous about it LOL

WOW!!!

I didn't realize that it has been this long since I was posting the last blog. We have been really busy trying to get out knitted items on Etsy. I have the shop there but I do not have any good pictures of the items to be able to put up. I have a local hair dresser close to my mother-in-law that is actually showing and selling my items for me. Its great and just recently a mission in Northern California that has a gift shop has begun selling the items for me as well. Which means, when I can and not at Bomball in Torrance, CA blogging away you will find me knitting. Currently I am selling knitted beaded bracelets as well as my boas, flat scarves, and the twisted sister scarf. I am also starting to make recycle bags in many different patterns of fabric. As soon as I can I will try and take a picture of a completed one so you can see what I am selling along with all of the knitted items. I will even try and post some pictures of the mini surf boards that the hubby makes for your key chains. He is getting really good at making them. I had one on my set of house keys until he gave it to a REALLY close cousin on his side.
Who knew that someone that wasn't family would actually like what I make.
The hubby at the beginning of the year had a PTSD/TBI moment outside of the apartment one night and ended up cutting his arm and toe badly to where I had to take him to the ER and get stitches in his toe. But, they could not put the stitches in until 4 hours after we got there since the toe would not stop bleeding. It was because he ended up losing almost all of the nail on that toe and the skin holding the nail to the foot. It was bad but he has healed and is actually getting a nail back.
My little guy Sarge has actually turned 7yrs old at the end of August and he still thinks he is a puppy. He has two kitty friends that are his best friends. Well, he thinks they are they are still getting used to them. Well, one day he was chasing them and ended up doing something where he actually ripped off a good chunk of his toe nail so he had to be taken to the doggy ER at a local vet and there they cleaned him up and I believe even saudered the wound so it would get better faster. He had to walk around for about a week or two in a bandage cast that he kept trying to nibble on. But, he is better now and still loves trying to play with those two kitties. And he LOVES going camping with us. Which is fine because when I am trying to make things for dogs he is my little doggy model and I can go in from there and modify things. Well, that is if he sits still long enough for me to put it on him and see how it looks.
I am glad that you are following me and you can find me at ETSY here: lolcreations4you.etsy.com or you can email me any time at: lolcreations@live.com

Most recent

Sorry to all that it has been so long since I have posted. Its just that I have been busy getting everything in order to start selling some of the items that I have knitted as well as knitting baby blankets for the babies that are being born into a military group I am part of. With all of that my hubby and I have been oh so busy. I promise that I will keep posting more things here as well as link my twitter account here.

One day closer

OK its one day closer to going to Stitch N Pitch at Dodger Stadium. Here is the link http://www.stitchnpitch.com/. That way you can see if there is going to be one near you and when it is going to be. I can't wait last year I had fun at it and can't wait. I wonder what we are going to be getting. Last year we came home with some awesome goodies. One was a knitting bag that said Stitch N Pitch Dodgers and also a Namaste Knitting Tube. That I have to tell you is awesome. It holds a lot of needles and at least one ball of yarn. That way you can keep all of your needles as well as your project all in one easy to carry tube. Here is the Namaste link: http://www.namasteinc.com/products/accessories/accessories.php. It is a great company.

Right now I am working on a nice pattern called the simple Shawlette. The only thing is that I cannot share the pattern with you but I can share my photos with you once I get them taken since the creator put it as no share but purchase only. Which I don't mind at all I am actually happy that she did that way she can make some money off of her creativeness.

Well, all I am going to end here for a bit since I am hungry and also curious if Joe is out of his meeting yet or not.

Wow

Wow everyone it has been so long since I have recently posted anything. I am so sorry about that but I can say that it has gotten better here since I am working on many projects at once. Lets see my baby blanket of love one that I recently finished I was able to complete in 5 days. I was in kinda of a rush because when the baby shower was scheduled or so I thought was a week later. Well, I was wrong so I spent every waking moment when I was not at the new job finishing that blanket. I am glad that I did since the soon to be mommy was very happy to have received it. I Will attach photos below so you can see it. Just know that the photo quality is not that great on my phone.

Now I am also working on 2 baby blankets for two more of the guys that are part of the awesome group 911 Help America Foundation. It is an awesome non-profit organization that takes care of solider that have recently come home and have PTSD and TBI from the Iraq/Afghanistan war. Also know as, OIF/OEF. Both of the men that are getting the blankets for their wonderful babies have been through so much and deserve so much yet ask for little. This is something that I can do since I know what they go through since I have my husband and we are part of this organization.
And to boot I am also working on another shawlette for myself since I loved the pattern that I was given and even though my first one has a little bit of a special mess up in it I really do love it. As soon as I can I will post pics of progress as well as pics of the finished original blanket as well as pics from Stitch 'N' Pitch which is this Friday. I can't wait last years was awesome this year I now will be just as good if not more than awesomer ( I know not a real word but still) than last year. More later. I just can't focus right now since I have not eaten and I am waiting for the hubby to arrive with my lunch whenever that will be.

Sarge's Blanket

I recently realized that now that we have had Sarge for a bit I have not made him anything and he tends to currently steal the blanket that I had made for Joe. So I looked around and found the perfect pattern for a blanket for him and am currently working on it. As soon as I can I will link the pattern here as well as show progress on it as the time passes

Lately

Sorry to all that have been reading our posts and sadden that there has been nothing going on here.
Well, everyone rejoice for there is now an update on us:
We rescued a doggie that we have named Sarge from the San Pedro pound on August 28th, 2009 here is what the adorable and every one loving dog looks like:
Here he is with one of his cuddle buddies Quack Quack.
After we got him we went through a though spot and were very happy to have him since it made it easier to not stress as much. Now we are stress free and better off. Vanilla Bean is doing good and thriving and enjoying time he gets with Sarge while he gets to roll around in his ball.
I have recently completed an awesome design by no other than the creator
of Knitting Wounded Yarn. As soon as I can I will post pics of it and also a link to her site so if you like how it came out ask her to purchase the pattern from her.

Have a good nite and day until I post again

The weekend

OK everyone who reads this looking for patterns. This weekend you will not be finding anything new unless I find something some where I want to share. Joe's Second and Third project

OK recently Joe started on his second and his third projects at the same time. And until recently (right now) I was blogging about it and honestly didn't realize until he pointed it out to me. So here it is.
Here is the first of the two projects:
Steering wheel cover.
To cover his BMW 318i.
As soon as we can we will post photos of it. It looks really nice so far and its done minus the fact that he has not sewed it to the steering wheel.

The second project that he is working on is actually two scarfs as well a customized dash board cover. As soon as we can we will send pictures. Hope all of you understand that I am going to be posting photos and if it comes out alright we can even sell the pattern cheaply but all of you can decide.

:D

Felted fair purse.

OK I am currently on working a felted purse that is in brown and white strips. It is going to be a really big purse size before it becomes felted. Right now I am on about row 15th row. Each stripe has 5 rows which makes it hard for me since I am still so new so I am not sure how to keep the different colors from falling off the edges so I knot the ends which I honestly do not think I am supposed to do that. Oh well its a learning process pics will be added soon

Joe's first knit project

OK here is a few pictures of Joe's first project a scarf that is a simple full knit with 16 stitches...

I am so proud of him. He is doing so well...Especially since lately he has been at drill he is sitting in his vehicle knitting in between things they are doing and having meals. He is doing so well.... In only about a week it has grown so long. So long that it is able to practically wrap around his neck and on both sides there are some that hangs past. It is awesome and fits so well with his uniform. Hoorah!!! Go ARMY!!

OK he has completed the project of his first scarf and he was able to be shown by his mom how to bind off it was a great site to see. I mean he was so determined last night to get the scarf done before she came down that he actually dozed off in the middle of a section trying to get it done. But here are pic of the completed scarf...
